Know what you're selling, and what it really takes

Owners don't buy "n8n workflows". They buy fewer lost enquiries, fewer no-shows and getting paid on time.

  1. Here's the gap. Most small businesses run on an inbox, a diary and memory. Enquiries wait a day for a reply. Customers forget bookings. Invoices sit unpaid because chasing them is awkward. Bigger companies automate this stuff. The cleaner, the plumber and the salon usually don't, because nobody has sat down and set it up for them. That's the job.

  2. These are the five automations in the kit, in roughly the order owners care about them:

    • New enquiry (01): a form that saves every enquiry, sends the customer an instant "we've got it" email and sends the owner the details. Nobody waits a day to hear back.
    • Weekly summary (02): every Monday at 8am, one email to the owner listing last week's enquiries.
    • Booking confirmation and reminder (03): a confirmation the moment a booking is made, and a reminder the day before.
    • Review request (04): one polite email two days after a job, asking for an honest Google review.
    • Invoice reminders (05): reminders at 1, 8 and 15 days overdue, then it stops so the owner can pick up the phone.
    • Plus the error alert (06), which you include every time. It emails you when anything fails, so you hear about problems before the customers do.
    TipCheck what they already pay for before you sell anything. Many booking systems already send reminders, and many accounting apps already chase invoices. Showing an owner a setting they didn't know about loses you a small sale and wins you a referral.

  3. Don't automate anything that needs judgement (quotes, complaints, refunds), anything that moves money, or anything that deletes data. Keep a person in charge of those.

    CarefulWhat it takes. The building is the quick part: with this kit you can get good at it in a week or two of practice. The real work is earning an owner's trust with their customers' emails, so plan on about 5 hours a week of steady outreach for two months, because a first client usually takes weeks, not days. Once it's live you look after it, which is exactly what the error alert and the monthly support plan are for. Who this suits: you're happy to talk to owners on the phone, you like keeping systems running smoothly, and you can give it those 5 hours a week. Everything you need to practise is free, so there's nothing to spend upfront.

  4. Your first 30 daysThe rest of this guide fills in each part:

    • Week 1: build. Run all six workflows on your PC (step 6) and test them with your own email. Write your one-line offer (it's in the kit). Record a 2-minute demo of the enquiry form working.
    • Week 2: list and start. Build a list of 50 local businesses in one niche with Find 20 businesses worth pitching, and check which are limited companies. Start the weekly routine in step 3. Fill in the scoreboard on Friday.
    • Week 3: talk. Keep the routine going. Run discovery calls as they come in. Send every proposal within 24 hours. Offer your first one or two clients a founding price in exchange for a testimonial.
    • Week 4: deliver or adjust. If you've won one, set it up in their account and hand it over properly (steps 5, 6 and 8). If not yet, read your scoreboard, change one thing in your message, and keep going.

They could. Busy owners usually don't. They're paying for someone to find the problem, set it up in their accounts, test it, explain it and keep it running. That's the service, not the software.
The business already has a booking system
Then skip 03 and check whether the system sends reminders. Sell the parts it doesn't cover, which are usually the enquiry log, review requests and invoice chasing.
