Glance is one small program that builds a personal homepage from a single text file. You pick the sources, it shows the newest first, and there's no feed deciding what you see.

Download Glance

Glance is a single file with nothing to install, so it's easy to try and easy to remove.

  1. On Windows, open PowerShell and paste these lines. They make a glance folder in your user folder, download the official Windows version from Glance's GitHub releases ↗, and unzip it:

    Windows (PowerShell)
    mkdir $HOME\glance
    cd $HOME\glance
    Invoke-WebRequest https://github.com/glanceapp/glance/releases/download/v0.8.6/glance-windows-amd64.zip -OutFile glance.zip
    Expand-Archive glance.zip -DestinationPath .
    Remove-Item glance.zip
    .\glance.exe --version
    Output
    v0.8.6
  2. That's the whole install: one file called glance.exe, about 16MB, from a 6.5MB zip. On a Mac or Linux, use Terminal instead:

    Mac (Apple silicon)
    mkdir ~/glance && cd ~/glance
    curl -L -o glance.tar.gz https://github.com/glanceapp/glance/releases/download/v0.8.6/glance-darwin-arm64.tar.gz
    tar -xzf glance.tar.gz
    ./glance --version
TipOn an Intel Mac, swap darwin-arm64 for darwin-amd64. On Linux, use linux-amd64 (or linux-arm64 on a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5). A newer version may be out by the time you read this: the releases page ↗ always has the latest.

Checkpoint.\glance.exe --version (or ./glance --version) prints a version number.
If it breaks'.\glance.exe' is not recognised
'.\glance.exe' is not recognised
You're in the wrong folder. Run cd $HOME\glance first, then try again. dir should list glance.exe.
