Wanted to see how far the Replica skill pack goes on a real product, so we pointed it at Linktree. It mapped 10 screens and 7 user flows, built the clone, then ran Playwright against it and found 2 actual bugs (a broken redirect and a layout shift on mobile) and fixed both without being asked. The one failing test is a font-loading timing thing we still haven't nailed. Video is the full run, sped up.

A few of you asked how this was made. It's not a real swarm, it's a visualisation: pure Python and Pillow, rendered frame by frame and stitched with FFmpeg. Took an evening. Happy to share the script if people want it, it's about 200 lines.

Been chipping away at this for a few weeks of evenings. Procedural terrain, basic crafting, day/night cycle, and you can die of cold if you're stupid, which I am regularly. Very early. The UI is placeholder grey boxes and the trees are literally triangles. But it's playable start to finish which feels like a milestone. Godot is honestly so much nicer to get started with than I expected. Ask me anything.

proxmox box, an arr-stack mini pc and the nas, all on one screen now. containers, cpu, ram, storage, network. used to have like 6 tabs open to check this stuff 7 containers running, immich and jellyfin are the ones that actually get used daily. built it after doing the self-host lessons

Whisper for speech to text, a local model through Ollama to summarise, Piper for the voice reading it back. Nothing leaves the laptop. It's slower than Alexa obviously but it doesn't send my emails to anyone, so I'll take it. Summaries are decent for normal emails, a bit dumb with long threads.

God's Eye View is unreal. Live aircraft within 250km, and you can turn on these night vision and thermal style filters that make it look like a film. No API keys, nothing to sign up for. I spent way too long following one plane all the way into Heathrow.

About 20 minutes from install to this. The queen agent spawns workers, they each propose an approach and then vote on it. Watching them argue is weirdly addictive.

Most phone photos have the exact GPS spot they were taken stored in the file. So that picture of your new car on your drive? It's got your address in it. Worth stripping before you send photos of your house, kids, whatever. ExifTool does a whole folder in one command, the remove-location-from-photos lesson walks you through it.

Followed the Streamlit lesson and then just swapped their sample sales file for my own bank CSV. Everything stays on my laptop which was the whole point, I'm not uploading my statements to some random budgeting site. Took about an hour and 50 minutes of that was fighting the date column because my bank exports dates as "03 Oct 2026" like a psychopath. Next job is categories so I can see exactly how much I spend on Deliveroo. Already scared.

A newbie gives his 20min and it's absolutely worth ❤️

Lost an hour to this so you don't have to. A PyAV release at the end of September breaks faster-whisper with a `metadata_errors` error. Fix: install with `--with "av<19"`. The subtitles and voice notes lessons have been updated with it now.

didn't know this until the lessons: a verified Google Business Profile can show on Maps for up to 90 days BEFORE a business opens. so for a new café the line is basically "you could be on maps before you've even opened the doors". writing my letter template around that this week, feels like a much better hook than "I make websites"
